I am worried about my child being bullied or exploited

BULLYING (INCLUDING CYBERBULLYING)

If you are worried that your child is being bullied in school, please speak to your child's class teacher in the first instance.  You can also speak to a member of the leadership team.  You can find our anti-bullying policy here

If your concern is related to bullying and cyberbullying happening outside of school, there are several services and useful links for you and your child to access for support.

The following links will provide you with more information if you or someone you know is being bullied:

Exploitation is when someone takes advantage of a child for their own profit or gain. It can take different forms. This includes:

  • Child criminal exploitation – when a child is manipulated or pressured to take part in criminal activity, including selling drugs.
  • Child sexual exploitation – a type of sexual abuse where someone is coerced, manipulated or pressured into sexual activity (this might be in exchange for gifts, affection, money or social status).

Both types of exploitation can be hard for a child to recognise and they may not understand that they are being coerced.

This extract is from Action for Children and there is more information about how to talk to your child about the risks and help them to protect themselves on their site.  Action For Children

If you are worried your child is at risk of being tricked, forced, or made to work in the criminal world please speak to a member of staff and visit Get Safe for help and information.

CLIMB is a Children’s Society Project that provides mentoring for children who are at risk of being drawn into ‘County Lines’ or other forms of exploitation. The programme, run by The Children’s Society, aims to divert young people into funded activities, such as sport, dance, music, the arts and more, with an intention of steering young people away from harmful situations. Referrals are made to Climb through The Children’s Society website: Climb | The Children's Society (childrenssociety.org.uk)
