Geography

The Geography curriculum at St. Catherine’s is designed to provide a broad and balanced education of the world that will give them the skills, knowledge and understanding to prepare them for their future lives.

At St. Catherine’s we believe that extending the children’s knowledge of the world is critical. This will support them as readers, in life, and will create greater aspirations, as they learn about the world around them.
Central to the Geography curriculum is the understanding that geography plays a crucial role in understanding our world. It makes a vital contribution to our knowledge of the rapidly changing environmental and social challenges that people face around the world and offers insights into how we should tackle them. We recognise that our geography education should contribute to essential aspects of children’s personal development such as creativity, independence, judgment, self-reflection, problem solving, reliability, responsibility and resilience as well as physical development, well-being and mental health.
