Religious Education
Religious Education (RE) Curriculum at St. Catherine’s C.E. Primary School
At St. Catherine’s, our Religious Education (RE) curriculum is designed to provide children with a comprehensive understanding of Christianity as a diverse global faith, along with insights into other major world religions and worldviews.
Curriculum Aims
Exploring Faiths and Beliefs: Our curriculum offers pupils the opportunity to explore various religious, spiritual, and philosophical perspectives, including their own. This exploration encourages students to reflect on different ways of living, believing, and thinking.
Developing Religious Literacy: We aim to develop religious literacy skills, enabling children to engage in balanced and well-informed conversations about religion and belief. By fostering a respectful and open-minded approach to different faiths and worldviews, we prepare students to participate thoughtfully in a diverse world.
Learning Objectives
Through our RE curriculum, children will gain:
- Knowledge of Major World Religions: A deep understanding of the beliefs, practices, and values of Christianity and other significant world religions.
- Critical Thinking Skills: The ability to analyse and discuss religious and philosophical concepts with insight and respect.
- Personal Reflection: An opportunity to reflect on their own beliefs and values in the context of a broader understanding of global perspectives.
