Welcome to Year 6 with Miss Nolan, Mrs Jones and Mrs Crane!
As part of our RE curriculum, we visited Franche Community Church to participate in their monthly food packing. Sam, who runs the food bank, spent time explaining what the food bank does and who benefits from it. We then packed 212 boxes (!) with donated food to be delivered to those people who need it.
It felt great to be able to volunteer our time to help those in need and we loved it!
As part of our sequence of learning for the book 'Everest', as a class we were challenged to work as a team to construct a large tent (with no help from teachers!)
We had to nominate a leader and then try to work together to get the tent up and everyone inside!
We then wrote a set of instructions for a climber who wanted to construct a tent at base camp on Everest.
Trip to Worcester Cathedral
As part of our RE topic, we had a wonderful day out to Worcester Cathedral. We started the visit with a tour of the magnificent building, where the volunteer guides shared lots of interesting information with us. In our groups, we then went on a letter hunt around the cathedral to uncover a mystery anagram.
Both classes had the opportunity to create scary gargoyles and decorate their own prayer stone to use when we want to feel peace and reflect.
The children were all superb and the volunteers and staff at the cathedral remarked on what a credit they were to the school. Well done Year 6 - you did yourselves proud!
