Keeping Safe Online
Always be careful when you are online. Technology can help you to keep in touch with your friends and help your education – but it can also cause harm to you and to others.
Who is a friend?
There are lots of ways that you can be in touch with people online, but IF YOU DON'T KNOW THEM IN REAL LIFE, THEY ARE NOT A FRIEND. If you are in contact with people online that you don't know in real life, you can't know for sure who they are or whether they are kind people. You should be open with your trusted adults about what you are doing online and anything that you are worried about. Even if you think you might get into trouble, tell an adult, because hiding things can get you into even more trouble!
Remember help is always available at school if you are having any problems online.
Don’t be afraid to talk to your teacher or another adult at school.
If you or anyone you know is worried about anything that you see or hear online you can
call Childline 0800 1111 or visit their website here. If you are worried about online abuse, you can report it to CEOP through their website here.

Tips for staying safe online:
- Make sure you keep new online friends strictly online. If someone you don't know asks to be your online friend you must ensure an adult knows about it.
- Know how to use the CEOP Button and how to report something to the CEOP Centre, if you are concerned about someone’s online behaviour towards you.
