Keeping in touch

Tuesday 31st March 2020

Dear Parents/Carers,

I hope that you are all keeping well and staying safe through these strange and difficult times. St Catherine’s remains open, looking after the children of Key Workers and ensuring that we meet all of the ongoing duties requested of us, by the government. Your child’s teacher is either here looking after children or working with colleagues to get future home-learning planned.

We hope that you have found the initial work packs useful in helping your children revise and consolidate their learning. I would like to say thank you to parents and carers for all that you have been doing to keep learning going during this time. We know that everyone is doing their best; please do not worry if everything is not complete. These are tough times and we understand the different pressures that each family faces with children, work commitments and dealing with self-isolation or illness.

As we approach what would have been the Easter break, there will be some optional holiday activity ideas, on the school website: https://www.stcatherineskidderminster.co.uk/home-learning/. Most importantly we see the Easter break as a time for families to do things together less formally.

New work packs will resume when we would normally return after the Easter break on Monday 20th April. These will also be available on the St Catherine’s website on the link listed above. Teachers will be setting a range of activities in fortnightly blocks. We have decided to provide electronic work packs that can be viewed online, they will not require printing. This will allow you to access the work without the need to visit the school site to collect ‘packs’. If you do not have internet access to download the online work packs, please phone the school office to arrange for a paper based activity pack for your child.

These work packs are being designed to give your child daily:

- English sessions (reading based activities, grammar activities & writing activities)

- Spelling or phonics activities

- Maths sessions

- Foundation curriculum activities e.g. Science, History, Geography, Computing, Art, DT, Spanish, PE, etc

Finally, I would like to wish you all a happy and healthy Easter, when it arrives. Stay safe, and know that as soon as we are given the go-ahead St. Catherine’s will be ready and raring to welcome you all back, and this day can’t come soon enough!

Yours faithfully,

Sarah Power
