Young Voices and World Book Day
Fri 28 Feb 2025We've had a busy first week back after half term and there has been lots of wonderful learning taking place in school.
We are really looking forward to hearing how our amazing Young Voices Choir have got on with their performance at the bp pluse live arena in Birmingham. What an incredible experience.
We are counting down to World Book Day and there are many things happening next week for this.
In addition to the book fair and World Book Day itself the PTA are organising a Book Swap and Golden Ticket Chocolate Bar sales. Please see Classlist for details of these.
Our clothing collection take place next week. Donated clothes can be left outside the DT/Science room on Wednesday.

February Half Term
Fri 14 Feb 2025What a wonderful half term we have had. It has gone so quickly.
Thank you all for your support with our fundraising for the NSPCC this week and so far we have raised £338.50.
We have had quite a busy week in school with visits from Ann Mulders (HSBC) who has led money related workshops throughout the school and key stage one have had sessions with representatives from Kidderminster library. We hope they enjoy reading the book they selected to read.
Year 5 had an educational trip on Tuesday to the Islamic Experience Exhibition in Birmingham and we have been fascinated by hearing about what they saw there.
We return to school on Monday 24th February.

Reception's 100th Day
Thu 13 Feb 2025Our Reception classes have celebrated 100 days in school today.
The children had a fantastic day celebrating this milestone, from decorating biscuits and playing games with Year 6 to getting involved in fun 100-related activities.
They especially loved parading their hats around the school and sharing their excitement with staff and friends. What a special day!
A huge thank you for all the time and creativity you put into the 100th Day Hats—they were absolutely amazing!

Safer Internet Day 2025
Tue 11 Feb 2025As part of our worship this morning the chidren all heard about how to keep themselves safe online. Why not ask them what they have learnt. See if they can remember 'Too good to be true'.

Upcoming events in school
Fri 07 Feb 2025We have so much to look forward to in February and March.
We are raising money for the NSPCC on Monday 10th February with a non-uniform day.
The PTA's disco's will be held in school on Tuesday 11th February. Don't forget to get your tickets.
Next week Year 5 are visiting the Islamic Experience Exhibition in Birmingham and Year 4 are taking part in a States of Matter Workshop at Baxter College. We hope these visits are enriching learning experiences for our children.
Our Reception children will celebrate their 100th day in school on Thursday 13th February. We can't wait to see their 100 day hats when they parade through school.
After half term our Young Voices Choir have their performance on Friday 28th February and we have been enjoying hearing them perform in worship on a Friday over the last few weeks.
World Book Day will be a fun event taking place on Thursday 6th March. Please see the information below.
Don't forget our clothing collection on Wednesday 5th March, if you are having a sort out we would be most grateful if you can support us with this.

Wyre Forest Swimming Gala
Fri 31 Jan 2025We are thrilled to report that the 13 children that represented St Catherine's at the Swimming Gala all swam amazingly well this afternoon.
As a team they came first at the afternoon gala and were placed sixth overall.
Well done to all our fantastic swimmers. We are very proud of all that you achieved.

Children's Mental Health Week
Fri 31 Jan 2025Next week is Children's Mental Health Week and the focus this year is on the theme of Know Yourself, Grow Yourself. There will be lots of activities taking place in school encouraging our children to express their emotions.

NSPCC Non-uniform day
Fri 24 Jan 2025On Monday 10th February we will be participating in the NSPCC’s Speak out, Stay safe programme.
Speak out Stay safe is an online safeguarding programme for children aged 5- to 11-years-old.
Children are invited to come to school in non-uniform on this day in exchange for a small donation to NSPCC.
Donations can be made via parent pay.

This weeks news
Fri 17 Jan 2025Today nine of our key stage 1 pupils took part in a Celebration of Inclusive Sport Event held at Baxter College by The Wyre Forest School Sport Partnership.
Well done to those pupils who took part Miss Hill was really pleased with your effort and achievements. Thank you for representing our school so well.
Over the next two weeks our Key Stage Two children will visit Kidderminster Library to explore what resources are on offer there and our Year Three pupils will take part in creative activities at Kidderminster Baptist Church.
