  • A great first week of this half term

    Fri 07 Jun 2024

We hope you all had a great half term break.

We have already had a very busy first week back in school.

We are awaiting the return of our year 6 pupils from their 2 night residential visit to Llanrug in North Wales and cannot wait to hear about all the activities they have taken part in.

The year 6 children who did not participate in this have been involved in lots of gardening, sports and arts & craft activites in school.

We hope the year 5 parents who attended the arts workshop on Thursday enjoyed this session with their child. Thank you for you support with this.

Our year 3 classes have visited the Carpet Museum in Kidderminster. How wonderful to learn all about this important part our the history of our town.

Please see below information regarding upcoming events in school.

  • Arts Day 2024

Just before half term, we were thrilled to host our annual whole school arts day. It was a wonderful opportunity for all classes to express their creativity. The beautiful artwork produced by the children will be submitted to the international NATRE competition. We are excited to share some pictures of their creations below. The talent and effort displayed by our children is truly inspiring.

  • Happy May Half Term

    Fri 24 May 2024

We really hope everyone has a wonderful break over May half term.

Yesterday was a fabulous Arts day in St Catherine's and we hope to be able to share photos very soon of all the amazing things each class worked so hard on yesterday. There was a great creative buzz in school.

  • A week filled with chocolate, flowers, money matters, bikes and lots of fun.

    Fri 17 May 2024

Thank you all for your support with the non-uniform day today. You have contributed lots of chocolate items ready for the PTA’s Summer Fair on Friday 5th July.

Our next non-uniform day will be Friday 14th June, this time it will be for a bottle donation.

Yesterday RH walked to St Barnabas Church to plant Spring flowers as part of their Community project. If you are passing the church do look to see if you can spot the plants & flowers.

Well done to our Year 6’s this week. We hope they have all been able to relax and enjoy their celebration day today. We were thrilled that we had such favorable weather for them to enjoy the bouncy castles, games and treats marking the end of their SAT’s week.

As part of our work with HSBC, Anne has been in school this week working with our Reception, Year 1, Year 2, Year 3 and Year 4 pupils. Reception met Ed & Bunny, and the other year groups learnt about topics such as shopping sense, buying branded or unbranded goods, different ways to make payments, debit and contactless card payments and some classes had fun making rubbings of coins and took part in a treasure hunt.

43 of our Year 4 pupils completed level bikeability sessions this week. The instructors were really pleased with their enthusiasm and progress with this activity. We hope this was a valuable experience for those children who took part. Perhaps they could cycle to school next week!

Our school is taking part in Walk to School Week (20th – 23rd May 2024 and Monday 3rd June). The nationwide event is organised by walking charity Living Streets and designed to help pupils experience first-hand the importance of walking to school.

This year’s challenge, The Magic of Walking, encourages children to travel actively to school every day of the week. Meeting various magical beings along the way, they'll learn about the important reasons to walk and the difference it can make for individuals, communities and the planet! Each pupil will be challenged to travel sustainably (walk, wheel, scoot, cycle or Park and Stride) to school every day for one week using the wallchart and stickers to log their journeys.

Each class will work collectively to make as many active journeys to school as possible across the week. Individual activity diaries, daily stickers and end of week pupil rewards will complement this activity, reinforcing the benefits and keeping children engaged.

What do I need to do as a parent/carer? We would ask, if possible, to make arrangements so that your child/children can travel actively to school on week commencing 20th May, helping our school reduce congestion and pollution around the school gates.

In return, your child will earn special stickers and a reward trophy! Walking, wheeling, scooting and cycling all count! If you live far away from school and need to drive or take public transport, try parking the car ten minutes away and walking the rest of the journey.

Thank you for your support with this activity.

  • This week in school

    Fri 10 May 2024

Although it has been a 4 day week it has been an eventful one at St Catherine's.

We are eagerly awaiting the return of our year 4 pupils from the 2 night residential visit to Malvern. We are looking forward to hearing about their outdoor activities.

The year 4 children who remained in school have been busy on many projects, including sewing, junk modelling and cooking.

Reception held an in school parent and carer craft session on Wednesday making Spring crafts. Thank you to those of you who were able to attend this event.

RY walked up to St Barnabas Church on Thursday as part of their Community project and planted spring flowers. RH will take part in this project next week.

Reminder : Friday 17th May is a Non-uniform day in exchange for a chocolate donation for the PTA's Summer Fair.

We will see you all on Tuesday 7th May for the last three weeks of this half term.

Once again the St Catherine's community displays great kindness and supportiveness.

Your generosity has raised £131.35 towards our school fundraising and supported the work of this charity. Currently the donated clothing is being sent to the Ukraine.

We have all enjoyed Red Nose Day today. Thank you for your support with our fundraising for this charity towards their work in the UK and abroad. We will update you with the total raised once all the donations have been received.
