    Thu 13 Oct 2022

A huge thank you for your kind donations for our Harvest Collection.

We really appreciate your generosity to help those in need in our local community.

We hope that those of you who came along have enjoyed the Harvest Festival assemblies. We still have Reception's on Monday 17th October.

Well done everyone. It's been lovely to hear the children singing this week.

  • World Mental Health Day - Monday 10th October

    Tue 11 Oct 2022

All classes took part in activities yesterday promoting good mental health and wellbeing.

We looked at the five ways to wellbeing and the simple things that we can all do to
improve our emotional health and wellbeing.

There were many activities through the day. Classes joined with a partner class to complete activities together to connect and take notice. The children got active and took part in a run or walk around the school with their classmates. It was a busy day.

We hope the children enjoyed the day and that they have an understanding of ways to improve their wellbeing.

  • A great start to the new term.

    Fri 30 Sep 2022

September has been a busy month in school.

We hope the children have been enjoying their swimming lessons over the last few weeks.

We are so pleased to have welcomed our new Reception children to St Catherine's.

Our Harvest Festivals are due to take place in October.

Parents are invited to join us in school for Harvest.

The festivities will be held in the school hall at 9am – 9.30am on the following dates: Tuesday 11th October 2022 – Years 5 & 6

    Wednesday 12th October 2022 – Years 1 & 2

    Thursday 13th October 2022 – Years 3 & 4

    Monday 17th October - Reception

Once again, following parent requests, we are committed to supporting a local charity with our harvest gifts. To this end, we will be collecting contributions of tinned and packaged food. The food supplies will be distributed in our local area, to those in most need. Please do not send any fresh produce as we are not able to get the food distributed quickly enough.

Thank you in advance for your generosity, we know the food we collect and distribute is greatly appreciated.

Please note that space will be limited at our Harvest Festivals, and so, only parents are invited to join us. We apologise for any disappointment this may cause.

  • Summer Time Fun!

    Thu 07 Jul 2022

How fantastic it was to hold our Sports Day last Friday. We are sure our parents and families enjoyed being able to attend and there was a wonderful atmosphere with everyone cheering and supporting the children. Well done everyone for taking part and earning points for your House Team. There were only 12 points between all the teams when the scores were counted and the overall winners were Ben Nevis (Blue).

We are really looking forward to our next event this Friday (8th July), with the long awaited return of the PTA Summer Fair. There are lots of stalls and activities, including bottle tombola, splat the teacher, hook-a-duck, inflatable slide, glitter tattoos and beat the goalie. Don't forget your entries for the bake off competition, these can be brought into school at the end of the school day.

Everyone is invited to come and join the fun from 4:30pm, we hope to see you there.

  • What a wonderful day - joint celebration of the 10th Anniversary of St Catherine's school building and the Queen's Platinum Jubilee

    Mon 27 Jun 2022

We are all sure that Friday 24th June will go down in the school's history and that both pupils and staff will have lasting memories of this very special day.

Once again St Catherine's was awash with colour, vibrancy, singing and joy!

Well done everyone for taking part.

We visited every decade of the Queen's reign from the 1950's to the present day in our whole school assembly throughout the morning. There were lots of amazing performances and we loved seeing everyone taking to the stage to sing, dance and illustrate the headlines and fascinating facts of the various decades.

Even the staff took to the stage to sing a medley songs of friendship.

We were so pleased that the rain stayed away for the whole school picnic at lunchtime on the school field. How lovely to see everyone enjoying their picnic lunches together.

During lunch we were joined by previous staff members, some of whom even remember the old school building and the opening of the new one. It was so lovely for us to welcome back Mrs Power for the occassion. To mark this special day a celebration cake was cut by Mrs Cope and Mrs Brogan.

The children really enjoyed playing various games during the afternoon, they all sounded like they were having so much fun. The afternoon's activities were finished with a refreshing lolly, kindly given for each of the children by the school's PTA.

Please see a few of the photos from this day below.

  • Assembly round up!

    Thu 23 Jun 2022

Over the last two weeks we've had some great assemblies.

Last week Year 2 took us back to the 1990's - showcasing the hits and headlines from that decade. The children all seemed to have so much fun taking part.

This week Year 3 focused on the Rainforest and have given us an education in this topic. We saw some dancing from them too with Agadoo and Footloose.

Well done Year 2 and Year 3 for entertaining your families and our pupils with your performances.

We look forward to seeing all year groups take part in our celebration day tomorrow.

Each year group will perform to the rest of the school during the morning before our whole school picnic at lunchtime.
